I’m in with this. You must use proper quotation marks. My only exceptions are text messages (to avoid jumping up to 16-but rather than 7-bit encoding), and I don’t go back and change what auto-correction does.

Thankfully Tumblr fixes this for me.

I agree with Brent Simmons: learn the key combinations, don’t mess with remapping.
